FAQs
Can I defer my admission and scholarship(s) while serving a mission?
Any student who is admitted to ASU can defer enrollment for a variety of reasons including religious missions. Students are also eligible to defer ASU institutional scholarships. To defer your ASU scholarship awards, you will need to submit the scholarship deferment form including at least one supporting document (e.g., military orders, notice of religious mission, confirmation of volunteer work, etc.) to certify your eligibility for scholarship deferment.
ASU is unable to defer any privately awarded scholarships. You must notify your private scholarship sponsor of your deferment request with ASU. Private scholarship deferment decisions will be made by the scholarship sponsor.
When can I apply for a deferment?
You can apply for a deferment any time after being admitted and before your first semester of enrollment.
How many semesters can I request to defer?
You may defer your admission for up to five terms or 2 ½ years.
Do I have to attend ASU for any period of time before being eligible for deferment?
No. You can apply for admission and scholarship deferment at any time and do not have to attend on campus before applying for or receiving deferment.
Is there a deadline to apply for a deferral?
You must apply for a deferral before your first semester of enrollment.
